Short Story
HI HOPES works across six provinces in South Africa and provides home-based early intervention services to hearing-impaired children ages 0-3 and their families.
Families receive weekly visits from Parent Advisors, who tailor lesson plans to the individual child and family’s unique needs and perform follow-up assessments to see how the family and child are adapting. Deaf Mentors are selected from the community to act as role models, mentoring and supporting families, especially around issues of language and communication with their child.
